About Blue Sky Traders

Blue Sky Traders opened its doors in June, 2004. Let me share our story.

In 1992, I arrived in the Republic of Palau for a two-year adventure as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. I worked at Palau Community College as a Small Business Advisor. Almost one year later, I met Faye Remoket who had just returned home to Palau after finishing college in Hawaii. When my service was over in 1994, we moved to Oklahoma where we married. After three-years in the U.S., we made the decision to return to Palau.

While in Palau this second time we started and managed several successful companies including Computers Plus, Star Theater, Bennett Business Services & the Orakiruu Professional Building. We were active in the Palau Rotary Club and sat of the Board of Directors for the Palau Chamber of Commerce.

Running a business in Palau was a dream. We worked hard during the week. The weekends not spend at family customs were spent on Kayaks in the Rock Islands, at the beach just below our house, swimming in freshwater pools filled by waterfalls or fishing for skipjack and tuna.

But running a business was not without its share of difficulties. It was difficult to find the good vendors who could provide the inventory and supplies needed to properly run our businesses. Most U.S. vendors were not willing to ship overseas and those that did lacked the unique knowledge and understanding required to properly and cost effectively ship into the Pacific Region. Talking with other island business owners – we learned this was a frustration shared by many.

In 2004, we made the decision to return to the United States and begin Blue Sky Traders.

Today, five years later Blue Sky Traders is known across the Pacific Region for its ability to provide a wide range of inventory and supplies needed by businesses and agencies to effectively run and manage their operations. Our management team has over 24 years of experience in procurement and shipping – from both sides of the Pacific. Our staff understands island business and the unique challenges we all face
